What’s the story behind the packaging for BLOK you may have wondered. The gorgeous array of color palettes you see on each flavor are sections of oil-on-canvas paintings that BLOK commissioned Zimbabwean Artist, George Masarira, to make.
Our Founder Jarret Stopforth is proud to have been born in Zimbabwe. It is a beautiful country that not too many people get to visit and we found it fitting to turn some of the most amazing sites and structures in Zimbabwe into the backdrop for our packaging. BLOK is art. It is an artisanal, high-protein snack packaged in pouches wrapped in the beautiful colors and patterns of Zimbabwe.
Here is George in action....
George Masarira is an exceptionally talented artist. George finds inspiration for his contemporary works by capturing things happening around him in Zimbabwe including politics, economy, religion, environment and community. He is a truly provocative artist portraying through his works what he perceives to be the truth.
BLOK is truly happy to represent the work of a fellow countryman on our packaging and to pay tribute to the beautiful pieces he puts together. Take a look at the pieces George made for us to capture some of Zimbabwe’s beauty and history.
